KHL's sports rules allow the first training of any KHL team for the upcoming season to take place in the middle of July the earliest. The Blueshirts will start theirs on July 16. Due to a major tech revision taking place in the home Ondrej Nepela Arena over the summer months (preparation for the next year's IIHF World Championship), Slovan will be training under roofs of different arenas. Because of this, Slovan will play their pre-season home games only after these works are finished, which would be after August 20.

The HC SLOVAN roster will start training at the Petržalka ice rink, which is a home to the local HC Petržalka 2010. The team will spent 14 days at the rink. As of Monday, July 30, the team will move to the Kysuce region in the north of Slovakia. They will stay in the modern sports M&M Arena in Krásno nad Kysucou for 7 days. In that week (Aug 2) they will play the first pre-season game against a team from the Czech town Olomouc.

The next training sessions will take place at the Vladimir Dzurilla stadium in Bratislava followed by two two pre-season games: in Ostrava (CZ) against Vítkovice (Aug 7) and in Brno (CZ) against Kometa (Aug 9).

The team will also join a high-quality international ice hockey tournament in Pardubice, Czech republic. The following teams will participate at the Zbynek Kusy Memorial, which will take place from Aug 16 until Aug 18: Eisbären Berlin (from the German DEL), Admiral Vladivostok and HC Dynamo Pardubice. But shortly before this tournament, the team will play another pre-season game against Mlada Boleslav team, on Monday, Aug 14.

As of August 20, The Blueshirts will be able to move to their locker room at the Ondrej Nepela Arena. The day after, on August 21 at 6 PM, the fans can look forward to a pre-season home game against Kometa Brno (recent Czech Extraliga double champion). Exactly one week later at the same time and same place, Slovans will host BK Mladá Boleslav in another pre-season home game.

The management of the club plan to schedule one more pre-season game either on August 23 or August 24. Slovan should play 10 pre-season games in total over the summer. KHL's regular season starts on September 1 with a traditional duel between the recent winner of the Gagarin Cup and the regular season winner. Other teams will kick off their season on Sep 2 or Sep 3. The schedule will be published in the middle of June 2018.
