Slovan players were not able to break Ufa's curse - they have never won on their ice. From the beginning, the game was fresh and quick, Slovans got into a big scoring chance right in the first minute, however, Virta only hit Metsola's top pole. The home team got their first scoring pportinuty in the 10th minute, but Štěpánek saved Solodukhin's dangerous attempt. A few seconds later, the home team scored anyway (Kemppainen). In the 13th minute, Ufa took the lead when Panin sccored. The Blueshirts decreased Ufa's lead in the 17th minute, when Virta pushed the puck in Ufa's net after Sersen's shot. Ufa players didn't any more goals in the first period.
The game was only 47 seconds in its 2nd period, when Ufa's Kemppainen increased the score to 3-1. Slovan players were making mistakes in their defense area, the home team players were more active, and the Blueshirts rarely skated in front of Ufa's goaltender. Kemppainen could have scored a hat trick, but he only hit a pol from a very good scoring position. Štěpánek made two excellent saves and was keeping Slovan's hopes up for a successful turnaround. The home team had three big chances to score in the 35th minute, but they didn't.
The home team was better in the third period as well. They controlled the flow of the game and left Metsola practically without any work. Kurgyshev's pass bounced off Klok behind Štepánek's back in the 46th minute - 4-1. However, the Czech goaltender saved his team from more goals with several more good saves. Metsola had to perform three more saves towards the end of the game, keeping the final score 4-1.
The second away game on Slovan's trip will be played against Barys Astana in Kazakhstan on October 7, at 1 PM CEST.
