The home team opened the game better, they also had the first chance and immediately after it a power play. However, Belányi saved all shots. Gudlevskis then had to intervene after the shots of Ihnačák and Sukeľ. Bystrica could have then played a power play, the arbiter whistled Alishauskas' foul on Vasas, but the away forward admitted that he had fallen alone. This sporting gesture was the most interesting moment in the first period for long minutes, the game then levelled off and was played mostly in the central zone. Harris had a big chance in the last minutes of the first period, but the score remained unchanged.
Right at the beginning of the second act the "rams" took the lead when Breton's shot was knocked into the net by Ihnačák. From that moment on, the guests were better, defending well and sacrificingly playing while short-handed. They were rewarded with a goal by Vašaša in the middle of the match. Slovan was apprehensive in the attack, players could not create anything, not even in the power-plays. The Rams were very effective and turned their ninth shot into a goal. After Bdžoch's pass, Žiak aimed perfectly.
In the third period, Slovan tried at least to change the result, but Bystrica did not allow them to seriously endanger Belányi with their tenacity. The match ended 0:3.
