THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE HC SLOVAN BRATISLAVA TEAM IS THE AMERICAN DEFENDER MICHAEL BRODZINSKI.
The management of the club has agreed on a contract until the end of the 2020/21 season with the 25 - year Michael Brodzinski who should participate in the training process at the end of the week, the coaches will decide on his deployment in the premiere match in the Slovan jersey.
"With the prospect of a difficult conclusion to the regular part and, of course, the playoffs, we tried to get the team to so-called a two-way defender who is not only responsible at the back but can also support the offensive and add some points. We received positive references for Mike Brodzinski from North America, where he has played so far. He was one of the most productive defenders in ECHL, he was the leader of his team. He also has experience from the AHL. I believe that he will fit into the team nicely and will be a reinforcement for us, "said HC SLOVAN general manager Maroš Krajči.
For Michael Brodzinsky, this will be his first experience with European hockey. A native of the city of Ham Lake in the US state of Minnesota, with his good performances he ranked among the best defenders in the North American competitions.
Decent point gains from recent seasons speak of the qualities. Last year, Brodzinski scored 35 points in 58 matches and also got into the selection for the Match of the Stars. In the 2018/19 season, the 180 cm tall and 88 kg hockey player added three more points.
Constant performances moved Brodzinsky to the border between ECHL and AHL, in the second-best league overseas he played a total of 61 matches. Most of them in the 2017/18 year, which he played for the San Jose Barracuda, i.e., the farm team of the San Jose Sharks. He has been loyal to the AHL's "Shark" affiliation throughout his career overseas
At a young age, Brodzinski entered the NCAA university competition steadily, which he also won at the University of Minnesota in his first season of 2014/15. His good performances were noticed by the scouts of the San Jose Sharks, who drafted him in 2013 in the 5th round/141 overall.
HC SLOVAN Bratislava welcomes the new reinforcement in its team and believes that he will build on last year’s performances in the Slovan jersey.
