The Canadian player will represent HC SLOVAN at the KHL All Star Game in Ufa.
The Canadian player, who's currently leading Slovan's productivity stats with his 29 points, have been nominated by the KHL representatives for the Bobrov division elite selection. Together with him, Vyacheslav Voynov from Saint Petersburg and a former Slovan player Francis Paré who is currently playing for Medvescak Zagreb.
Jonathan Cheechoo is the fifth Slovan player to play at the KHL All Star Game. The previous players were Cam Barker, Miroslav Šatan, Milan Bartovič and Jaroslav Janus.
The exhibition week will be held in the Russian city Ufa between January 15 and January 22, 2017. It will be kicked off by the MHL Challenge Cup on January 15, followed by the Women's Ice Hockey League All Star Game four days later.
KHL players hockey skills competition is planned for January 21, and on Sunday, January 22, the exhibition tournament between all KHL divisions (Bobrov, Tarasov, Kharlamov and Chernyshov) will take place. Two semifinal games will take place and one final game. There will always be one goaltender and four players playing. In case of an overtime, the number of the players will be decreased to three per team.
The nominations for the KHL Alls Star Game 2017 include players like Pavel Datsyuk, Ilya Kovalchuk, Valery Nichushkin, Maxim Afinogenov and Sergei Mozyakin. The goaltenders Pavel Francouz and Vladimir Sobotka should travel to Ufa too. Each team includes 11 players altogether - one goaltender and 10 field players.
The ninth KHL All Star Game will take place in Ufa in January 2017. Bratislava hosted the exhibition tournament in January 2014.
